Ravae Sinclair
Founder, National Birth & Postpartum Professionals (NBPP)
Birth & Postpartum Doula · Maternal Health Leader · Birth Justice Strategist
Ravae S. M. Sinclair is a birth doula and maternal health leader with over twenty years of experience supporting Black families across pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care. She has personally served nearly 1,000 families and holds multiple professional credentials, including Birth Doula, Postpartum Doula, Certified Childbirth Educator, Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC), and Juris Doctor.
Ravae is the Founder of National Birth & Postpartum Professionals (NBPP), a national perinatal professional association and continuing education hub dedicated to workforce development, leadership cultivation, and high-standard training for doulas and birth workers. Through NBPP, she advances culturally grounded education, mentorship, certification pathways, and professional infrastructure that support sustainable, community-rooted birth work practice.
She is also the Founder & CEO of Birth Connections, a multi-city boutique doula agency providing birth and postpartum support, education, and workforce development across Atlanta, Dallas, Phoenix, and Washington, DC. Her work bridges direct care, professional education, and organizational leadership, with a focus on advancing Black-led models of care that center dignity, autonomy, joy, and safety.
Ravae is widely recognized for her leadership in professional education, organizational development, and culture shift within Black maternal health and birth justice spaces. She is the Founder & Strategic Lead of Rooted & Rising Birth Work, a national convening for birth workers focused on collective learning, shared language, leadership development, and coordinated action across the Black maternal health ecosystem.
Earlier in her career, Ravae served as an Assistant State Public Defender, representing more than 3,000 clients and developing deep expertise in advocacy, counseling, and systems navigation. Her legal background informs her approach to reproductive justice, respectful maternity care, and the protection of birthing people’s rights.
Ravae has held national leadership roles with DONA International, including Immediate Past President, President, President-Elect, Intercultural Director, and Ethics Chair. She brings a rare blend of clinical experience, legal training, and movement-building leadership to her work.
Today, Ravae’s mission is to strengthen the perinatal workforce, expand access to high-quality community-based care, and build the professional infrastructure needed for birth workers to thrive.

The R.I.S.E. Collective convenes for live ONLINE 75-minute calls on the 4th Thursday of each month, commencing at 8 pm EST. These sessions provide an interactive platform for members to engage, discuss, and collectively tackle business challenges.
For added convenience and flexibility, recordings of these calls are promptly shared within the group, allowing members to revisit valuable insights or catch up if unable to attend live.
Additionally, the member community remains active throughout the month, with regular posts covering both business-related discussions and self-care topics.

Step 2: Membership Review Once your application is submitted, our team will carefully review the information provided. We'll assess your experience, commitment to professional growth, and alignment with the values of the R.I.S.E. Collective.
Step 3: Notification You will receive an email notification regarding the status of your application within 3-5 business days. If accepted, the email will include details on the next steps and how to proceed with the membership payment.
Step 4: Membership Payment Upon acceptance, complete the membership payment process, and log in to your R.I.S.E. Collective account/community. Choose your preferred payment method and follow the secure payment instructions.
